Scottish-born, London-bred, and genuinely obsessed with the English language. Here's my story.

I grew up completely lost in books. Tolkien, history, science, mythology, fiction — it didn't matter, as long as there were words on the page, I was gone. I finished all of Lord of the Rings before my twelfth birthday and sat very still for a long time afterwards, not quite ready to come back. What fascinated me wasn't just the stories — it was the language itself. The way a single sentence could carry weight and precision and ambiguity all at once. I wanted to understand how it worked from the inside out.
That curiosity followed me through school. I studied English Language at A-level at a grammar school in Kent — the kind of education that teaches you how language actually works, not just how to pass a test. I kept pulling at the thread. At university, academic writing gave me discipline — the essay as argument, the paragraph as unit of thought. I learned to write with clarity and rigour, and I never stopped finding it interesting.
Then came the real world. I worked across corporate finance, the music industry, fitness, and hospitality in London — real boardrooms, real negotiations, real professional writing where the register mattered and the stakes were high. I learned that the English taught in textbooks and the English that actually works in professional life are often two very different things. That gap is where I operate.
Now I bring all of that into my lessons. My students come to me to land jobs, earn promotions, pass IELTS, and secure places at internationally acclaimed universities. Every session is built around one idea — your English should work for you, in the real situations that matter. I find immense satisfaction in watching that click into place. Each student I work with brightens my day, and I can't wait to show you what you can learn.
